While in college, Richard was employed by the Utah Division of Water Rights—the state agency responsible for the administration of water rights—as an engineering assistant and as a law clerk. He also served in the Judge Advocate General branch of the Army Reserves and attained the rank of captain.
Richard joined Senior & Senior—a leading natural resource firm in Salt Lake, UT in 1973. In 1984, Richard joined the Law Firm of Ray Quinney & Nebeker—one of the largest law firms in Utah. While working at those firms, he represented companies in complex matters and large projects. As a result, he developed a high level of expertise in natural resource, water, real estate, and business matters.
In 1997, Richard opened his practice in Lehi, Utah. He continues to represent clients in the same practice areas as well as estate planning. He has limited his Lehi practice to the areas in which he has significant experience and expertise in order to give high quality representation.

Richard is responsive and committed to his clients and he understands that it is important for his clients to be kept informed and involved as their matters proceed.
Richard has an AV Preeminent rating, which is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards by Martindale-Hubbell—the leading attorney peer review rating service in the United States. Only one percent of American attorneys achieve the AV Preeminent rating.
